Dr. Avery Stec is a family medicine physician dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for patients across every stage of life. She believes in meeting patients where they are and partnering with them to achieve their health and wellness goals through personalized, comprehensive care. Dr. Stec values building lasting relationships with her patients and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every individual feels heard, respected, and supported.
Dr. Stec earned her Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Psychology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and her Master of Biomedical Science from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her residency at Albany Medical Center’s family medicine program, which included training in gender-affirming care for transgender, queer, and nonbinary adults, osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) for musculoskeletal conditions, minor dermatologic procedures (cyst removal, skin biopsy), musculoskeletal injections (major joint, carpal tunnel, trigger finger injections), and reproductive health care (contraceptive counseling, cervical cancer screening, IUD/Nexplanon placement). She is board-certified in Family Medicine.
Dr. Stec has clinical interests in gender-affirming care, reproductive health, osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), preventive medicine, diabetes management, mental health, weight management, addiction medicine, sports and musculoskeletal medicine, and geriatrics. She is passionate about empowering patients through education and shared decision-making, helping them take an active role in their health and well-being.
Outside of the office, Dr. Stec enjoys reading, staying active, exploring local parks, attending community events, and spending time with her wife and children. She is also an accomplished rower, having participated in eight Head of the Charles Regattas in Boston.
