Dr. Mary K. Barnett is a board-certified family physician and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She received her medical degree from Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Science at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Barnett completed her family medicine residency at Ellis Medicine in Schenectady, NY. She began her studies at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, earning her Bachelor of Science in biology. Dr. Barnett is interested in general family practice, including care for chronic disease, small office surgical procedures, joint injections, preventive care, and care of pediatric patients. Dr. Barnett is dedicated to her patients. She gives each and every patient the time they need to explore their medical concerns and will work together with them to advocate for their health.
Dr. Barnett has always wanted to be a physician since elementary school. She even wrote about it in her 2nd-grade autobiography! Dr. Barnett joined medical explorers in high school and volunteered in doctor’s offices and hospitals throughout high school and college, which further affirmed her decision. She loves working in family medicine, caring for multiple generations of families, getting to know them, and caring for their physical, social, and emotional well-being. Dr. Barnett believes listening, taking care of the whole person, and working with the patient to develop a care plan to help them reach their health goals are most important. She loves educating her patients so they can be active participants in their healthcare and lead healthy and happy lives.
Dr. Barnett has always called the Capital Region home; she is originally from Amsterdam, NY. Outside of her love for medicine, she is a sports enthusiast! She is now a fan but was once a participant. Dr. Barnett enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with family.
